Synchronised swimmers were included as part of the guest entertainment when the latest Art Series Hotel, The Olsen officially opened.
The event, held last Thursday (April 15) saw the industry, socialites and celebrities combine to celebrate the 16 storey hotel built as a tribute to Australian painter Dr John Olsen.

The $90million hotel development is the jewel in the crown of the Art Series Hotel Group which also includes Melbourne hotel The Cullen.
Guests can expect all of the five star creature comforts with the added visual feast of 492 Olsen works across the 229 room hotel.

Upon entry to the hotel, guests are greeted by a six meter mural, titled The Yellow Sun and the Yarra painted for the stunning glass encased entrance. The hotel is home to a spectacular glass bottom swimming pool where the swimmers performed for the event, a resplendent sun deck, gymnasium, opulent rooftop Olsen Penthouse Suite and high tech conferencing facilities.

For those wishing to stay longer and something a little more unique, The Olsen also has a number of exclusive residential suites for those on project work or in between homes.
All rooms combine creature comforts with the latest technology including a gourmet kitchen, LCD TV and iPod docking station replete with 24 hours of preloaded music by Sony. A photographic celebration pays tribute to Olsen’s extensive career.

The hotel is part of the $500million Art Series Hotel project, the brainchild of Melbourne dynamo Will Deague. The Olsen is the second (following the opening of The Cullen late 2009) in a series of six art hotels set to open in Melbourne over the next 18 months. The group is part of the Melbourne based, Asia Pacific Building Corporation.
