The Byron at Byron joins Crystalbrook Collection

The growing hotel brand has snapped up the $45 million resort after it was listed for sale in May.

Retail mogul Gerry Harvey has sold his $45 million luxury beachfront resort The Byron at Byron Resort and Spa to Crystalbrook Collection.

Located on 45 acres of subtropical rainforest in northern New South Wales, the 92-room resort joins Crystalbrook’s growing portfolio of luxury resorts across Australia’s east coast.

The acquisition of The Byron at Byron brings Crystalbrook Collection’s portfolio to more than 1100 rooms in operation or under development across seven properties in New South Wales and Queensland.

Crystalbrook Collection owner Ghassan Aboud described the move as a “momentous day for the group”.

“We are thrilled to be introducing Byron at Byron to Crystalbrook Collection, providing the opportunity of an outstanding leisure experience for our global customers,” he said.

“The acquisition of this fantastic asset signifies our continued quest for growth in Australia and the region.”

A popular destination for leisure guests and business events groups, The Byron at Byron opened in 2005 and was listed for sale in May this year.

It joins a collection of flagship properties in Cairns, including Riley, a Crystalbrook Collection Resort which opened in 2018 and two that are currently under construction.

Crystalbrook Collection also owns Little Albion, a Crystalbrook Collection Boutique Hotel, in Sydney, and will open Kingsley, a Crystalbrook Collection Hotel, in Newcastle, NSW late next year.
