Taronga Zoo’s hands-on behind-the-scenes Wild Australia Experience tour is an exclusive journey of Australian wildlife discovery perfect for international groups.
This exclusive tour is led by a Zookeeper and is designed to encourage interaction between visitors, Australian animals and the Zoo’s family, enabling guests to have a unforgettable, behind the scenes experience.
Visitors will receive an introduction to Australia’s unusual wildlife including excellent photo opportunities with animals such as koalas, kangaroos, echidnas and more.

Next, venture into the wilderness of the Australian bushland where you will enter the underground world of the endangered Southern Hairy-nosed Wombat and discover some of the mysteries of the platypus.
This tour will gives an in-depth look at our unique Australian fauna and show how we care for them at Taronga Zoo. Keepers will explain the unique adaptations of the special Aussie animals which enable them to live in harmony with the Australian environment.
The two-hour tours are run twice daily at 10am and 2pm in small personalised groups and an experienced keeper as your guide. There are opportunities to have photos with koalas inside their enclosures as well as hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies. Visitors will also see the animals meals prepared in a working zoo kitchen and witness some the behind-the-scenes activities that goes in to caring for Australias remarkable wild animals.
The tour also includes a trip on the Sky Safari cable car where guests will have an aerial view of the Zoo and the spectacular views of Sydney harbour. After exploring the Zoo guests are treated to morning or afternoon tea at the Zoos Tree Tops caf and will receive an Aussie souvenir to remember their day at the Zoo.
