Ikara Safari Camp has opened at Wilpena Pound Resort in the Flinders Ranges 400 kms from Adelaide.

Each tent has a raised desk area

With fifteen safari tents with ensuites, the camp is set amongst river red gums and native pines and overlooks rock formations.

Each tent is just over five square metres and made from insulated canvas with reverse air conditioning to cope with the temperature variations that are a part of the bush camping experience.

The camp by night

With everything you would expect in a high-end hotel room with the exception of television, the camp offers guests the chance to enjoy BBQ dinners in a dedicated central facility that has a kitchen, bar, a lounge and a dining room for up to 30 people. Guests will be able to gather for sundowners around the fire pit prior to their evening meals.

Wilpena Pound is located in the crater of an extinct volcano, with the surrounding walls forming a natural wildlife sanctuary. The area is known for it’s unusually high levels of native fauna making it an excellent choice for international visitors.

The completion of the Ikara Safari Camp, and the recent refurbishment of the long standing Poddy Dodger’s Bar at the Resort, represent the first major upgrades to the property since it was purchased by Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) in 2012.  The project has been co-funded by the Australian Government through the Tourism Industry Regional Development Fund Grants Program, and the South Australian Government Tourism Development Support Scheme.
