Sofitel Sydney Wentworth puts on a concert for isolation guests

The hotel’s 400 quarantine guests were treated to spot of music therapy.

A private concert was music to the ears of some 400 isolation guests at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth last night, who are completing their 14 days of mandatory government quarantine.

Watching on and singing along from their private balconies, guests were treated to performances by Sydney RNB cover band Soul Nights, singer-songwriter Johnny Diesel and DJ Troy T from Sound Agents.

Many of the guests were celebrating the completion of their mandatory isolation, with 55 guests checking out of the hotel today (22 April 2020).

Sofitel Sydney Wentworth general manager Sam Panetta said the hotel is doing everything it can to ensure guests have a comfortable stay.

“Seeing our guests singing and dancing to the music from their balconies was a sight to behold,” he said.

“Our team remain focused on providing a great guest service. After all, taking care of others is at the very heart of what we do every day.”

The evening performance was paired with a three-course French meal of niçoise salad, Basque-style braised chicken and crème caramel.

Accor chief operating officer Pacific Simon McGrath said he was proud of the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth team for the thoughtful gesture in holding the concert.

“They are not only providing accommodation, but also pastoral care and kindness,” he said.

“I couldn’t be more proud of our incredible team.”

The hotel team have also delivered many other acts of kindness to their guests, for example a cake and card for a guest’s birthday, a cake for a couple’s 50th wedding anniversary and yoga mats on request for guests to maintain health and wellbeing.

Sofitel Sydney Wentworth is one of several Accor properties housing incoming international arrivals for the Federal Government directive quarantine period. To date, Accor’s Sydney hotels alone have cared for more than 2500 quarantine guests.
