Construction is well underway on Sofitel Adelaide, with a ‘topping out’ ceremony held this week to celebrate the hotel reaching its full height.
Rising up in the heart of Adelaide’s CBD, the $140 million property is the first international five-star hotel to be built in the city in 30 years.
Originally reported by Spice News in 2015, the 32-storey Sofitel Adelaide will comprise 250 rooms and suites luxury rooms, plus 69 luxury apartments on the upper eight levels.
The hotel is expected to also offer a restaurant, four bars, ballroom, health and fitness centre, meeting and conference rooms and a signature Sofitel Club Lounge.
Accor Pacific chief operating officer Simon McGrath welcomed the construction milestone.
“Sofitel Adelaide will be a truly world-class asset – exuding a refined and understated sense of modern luxury with a touch of Sofitel’s renowned French decadence,” he said.
“I couldn’t be more thrilled that we’ve reached this pinnacle construction milestone.”
The construction of the hotel is expected to be complete in December.
