Read on for a first look at what Amanda Lovett from The Star Sydney revealed in her 2016 Leaders Forum.
2016 is going to be a busy one for The Star Sydney with numerous developments underway – and more to be announced – that will further solidify our position as Sydney’s premier events and entertainment destination.
The $130 million refurbishment of rooms and suites at Astral Tower and Residences, set for completion in 2016, will complement our existing luxury offering, and meet the growing business and leisure market demands for quality, five-star accommodation in Sydney.
The refurbished Astral Tower and Residences will offer a five-star experience with elegant rooms and high-end suites, new meeting rooms, and a comprehensive business centre. The introduction of a new executive hotel club lounge will enhance the experience for business travellers.
While we’ve already dedicated $500 million to progress expansion plans, in 2016 we will dedicate another $500 million to future developments of The Star; making our total investment in the property $1 billion over five years.
We’re also in discussions with The Ritz-Carlton in relation to the branding of a new hotel tower planned for The Star. The Ritz-Carlton has been confirmed to operate a precinct of the Queen’s Wharf project in Brisbane, so we’re excited by the prospect of a Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Sydney too, which will further enhance the experiences on offer at The Star.
The recently repurposed level 5 plenary space at The Star Event Centre enables us to now offer even more flexible solutions for our clients and their events. With this new infrastructure, 700 guests can be seated theatre style and then moved to the main floor of the Event Centre for a seated dinner with no turnaround time required, or the additional space can host a plenary alongside an exhibition on the main floor.
In 2016 we’re adding more new meeting spaces to support conferences held in our award-winning Event Centre.
