Auckland fire crews continue to battle a large fire that broke out at the New Zealand International Convention Centre construction site at SkyCity yesterday.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand confirmed the fire continued to burn through the roof on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, with some 26 fire trucks and around 100 firefighters at the scene.
With black smoke spreading throughout the CBD, Auckland residents were advised to avoid the area and stay indoors with their windows closed.

Overnight, the fire continued to burn through the roof.
There are currently 26 appliances working to fight the fire.
People are reminded to stay away from the immediate area.

SkyCity CEO Graeme Stevens addressed media in Auckland on Wednesday morning, saying the fire is “absolutely devastating”.
He confirmed while the damage is significant, there have been no fatalities.
The surrounding SkyCity precinct, including Sky Tower, Casino, Convention Centre, hotels and restaurants, will remain closed to the public on Wednesday.
