Sheraton Samoa Aggie Grey’s Hotel & Bungalows on the South Pacific island’s capital, Apia, has officially reopened, boasting more than 500 square metres of events space, including a ballroom and meeting rooms.
Architects and interior designers collaborated to retain the resort’s classic Samoan cultural heritage as part of its modern enhancements.
The design highlights the natural beauty of the property’s surrounding landscapes and waterfront harbour location, with furnishings sourced using sustainable wood and natural fibres.
Across 175 accommodation options, the hotel features 149 guest rooms, 23 private bungalows and three suites, each with private balconies or patios with harbour and pool views.
The resort features a redesigned lobby and dining options including poolside restaurant Feast, the Tea House, and the Lobby Bar.
Originally opened in 1933 by Samoan entrepreneur and tourism pioneer Aggie Grey, the hotel was a meeting place for American servicemen stationed in Samoa during World War II.
“While we pay tribute to the legacy of Aggie Grey, it is exciting to relaunch a renovated world-class product that offers a revitalised experience epitomising the timeless treasure of Samoa,” says Sunil Rawat, cluster general manager, Sheraton Samoa Resorts.
“The global positioning of the Sheraton brand as the world’s gathering place provides great relevance for the hotel as Samoa’s original gathering place.
“We look forward to hosting locals and international guests while delivering Samoan hospitality to an international standard.”
