Rydges Sydney Central is about to undergo refurbishment and add two new floors of executive rooms and corner suites.
Located near Central station in Surry Hills, the hotel’s designers are incorporating a highly contemporary ‘Urban Surry Hills’ design into the new rooms, including a textured exposed-brick design for the bed-head and vibrant colours for lounges and chairs.
In all, 38 rooms and suites will be added to the hotel, bringing the total inventory to 309 rooms.
The new rooms will be constructed in the eastern wing on levels five and six above the existing swimming pool and around the current atrium. The pool, spa and sauna will receive a refresh as well.
A feature of the upgrade will be the addition of four corner suites.
Coinciding with the construction of the new rooms – which should be ready in time for the peak business and conference period in February 2017 – there will be a major upgrade of existing rooms, including new carpet, paint, lighting, furnishings, 50” LED TVs, artwork and corridors. The upgrade should be complete by November this year.
By using lightweight materials and methods, construction of the two new floors and the refurbishment program will cause minimal disruption to hotel guests or the operation of the hotel.
