Rydges Southbank in Brisbane has launched an $11 million refurbishment this month, set to transform the look and feel of its popular function and events space and introduce a bar and restaurant concept inspired by high-end New York dining.
The new 2887sqm podium level will feature five function rooms capable of housing up to 500 delegates, conceptualised by revered LA interior designer Tracy Beckmann.
Brisbane’s Rydges Southbank has embarked on a $11 million refurbishment to expand conferencing and event space.
General manager of Rydges Southbank Hotel Patrick Lonergan said the refurbishment would drastically improve the hotel’s function and event capabilities.“We are introducing some very impressive technologies to all of our function spaces including iPad connectivity which will mean our corporate clients will be able to fully automate their meetings,” he said.
“The new design will mean more natural light for each of the functions and events rooms which will be good for corporate meetings and daytime cocktail events.
“The boutique style interiors coupled with the natural light minimises that underground feel common to so many functions and events spaces,” he said.
Lonergan added the hotel’s new bar and restaurant concept, titled Bacchus after the god of wine and indulgence would also add value to function guests.
The new space will be able to host up to 500 delegates.
“Guests using our function rooms will have direct access to the Bacchus terrace which will feature a poolside bar, cabanas and an entertainment space”.
The Rydges Hotel façade on Grey and Glenelg streets will also be given a new and improved street appeal with changes including vertical gardens, new Porte Cochére and four new retail spaces spanning 177 sqm.
“The refurbishment is largely self-contained and should lead to little disturbance,” he added. “Our CBD Café & Bar and existing food and beverage services will be business as usual throughout the course of the project and build times will be restricted to business hours and Saturdays.”
