Recruitment drive for Nyaal Banyul Convention Centre

Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre will open in mid-2026 and recruitment for key leadership roles has commenced.

The under-construction venue recently appointed Rick Aylett as its inaugural general manager, and now venue operator Victorian Convention and Event Trust (VCET) is working on building a local team to lead its operations.

During the next four months, applications will be open for 12 new roles, including executive chef, event and venue operations manager, marketing specialist and sales executives.

Located on the Geelong waterfront, Nyaal Banyul will feature a 1000-seat theatre and 3700 square metres of flexible space for community gatherings, conferences, concerts and smaller events.

“Nyaal Banyul is more than a venue – it will be a space for creating meaningful connections and discovering new perspectives,” says Aylett.

“Outstanding customer experience is at the heart of what we do, and it starts with a great organisational culture.

“I’m excited to start building our foundational team at Nyaal Banyul.

“While we’ll benefit from VCET’s 30 years of experience, as a local team we’ll be taking on a start-up mentality.

“These new roles will be pivotal in shaping the identity and energy of Nyaal Banyul – enthusiasm, creativity and a customer-first attitude are core traits we’re looking for.”

Victorian Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulos echoes this sentiment and is excited for the opportunities Nyaal Banyul will deliver the Geelong region.

“Nyaal Banyul is well and truly taking shape, and this centre will be a major boost for Geelong – attracting even more world-class events to the area and backing local businesses and jobs,” he says.
