Oaks Hotels and Resorts, a division of Thai-based Minor Hotel Group, has announced plans to open a second new-build property in Mackay, Queensland.
Oaks Carlyle, the 59-room, six-storey, serviced apartment complex will join sister property Oaks Rivermarque in Mackay’s city centre and offers self-contained one, two and three bedroom apartments.
Set to open in March 2015, Oaks Carlyle apartments will feature full kitchens, laundry facilities, spacious living and dining areas, WiFi access, LED TVs with cable channels, iPod docks and private balconies overlooking the CBD, hotel swimming pool or landscaped entertaining area.
The property also has a recreation room complete with a communal kitchen and lounge area, outdoor barbeque facilities and a ground floor café.
Oaks Hotels and Resorts’ Chief Executive Officer Brett Pointon said, “We are thrilled to announce the opening of a new Mackay hotel under Oaks Hotels & Resorts’ banner in early 2015, taking our total property count to 49.
“Mackay continues to flourish as one of Australia’s most lucrative resource regions, resulting in an ongoing demand for central, serviced apartments, so increasing our accommodation inventory with the launch of a second property was therefore a natural progression.
“Mackay also prevails as a holiday hot spot, lending to the unique combination of city, sea and rainforest, and its close proximity to the world-famous Great Barrier Reef, so we anticipate strong interest from leisure travellers in addition to a steady corporate base,” said Pointon.
