New events venue for Sydney’s Rose Bay

The waterfront Empire Lounge in Sydney’s Rose Bay is relaunching as Sydney Seaplanes Lounge following its acquisition by hospitality and hotel entrepreneur Dr Jerry Schwartz.

Built over the waters of Rose Bay, the new Sydney Seaplanes Lounge will host functions, dinners, product launches, celebrations, weddings and business events.

With capacity of 160 guests, the venue is available for day and night hire.

The venue also offers a boardroom in its seaplane museum – a multifunctional room that can be set up with a 12-seater boardroom table, surrounded by the history of the bay’s flying boats.

The venue has announced Natali Mikailoğlu as its new head chef.

She boasts experience at The Boathouse Group, Rockpool and Merivale, where she developed a distinctive approach to modern Australian cuisine.

Under Mikailoğlu’s leadership, Sydney Seaplanes Lounge will focus on fresh, seasonal produce with locally sourced seafood.

She has designed a new range of formal and casual dining menus, and canape menus for cocktail functions on Sydney Seaplanes Lounge’s outdoor decks or indoors looking out across the water through floor-to-ceiling windows.

A unique feature of the venue is the opportunity for guests to combine scenic flights with an event.

Sydney Seaplanes has its headquarters at the wharf, which allows function and event organisers to utilise Sydney Harbour scenic flights, which take off and land at Rose Bay wharf.
