The wedding and corporate events space, known as “The Homestead”, is in its final stages of construction ahead of its opening in May 2024.
Designed in collaboration with global leisure and entertainment company Pico Play, the 841-square-metre property draws inspiration from the famed “Queenslander” style of home, complete with wrap-around verandah, high ceilings and sandstone fireplace.
The venue can seat 200 guests for private functions.
“We designed the facility as the centrepiece of our new ‘Outback Springs’ precinct – the most significant in the sanctuary’s 75-year history – following extensive guest feedback and the opportunity to fill a gap in the market for a premium event space offering,” says Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary general manager Travis Couch.
According to Destination Gold Coast, the corporate events industry in the south-east Queensland region continues to grow post-COVID-19, with 99 business events bringing in $202 million for the local economy in the 2022-2023 financial year.
“With this increase in major corporate events, we expect a venue such as The Homestead will be highly sought after,” says Couch.
“The concept of paddock-to-plate is at the forefront of our dining experience at The Homestead, keeping in mind our heritage and the community to ensure our dishes are reflective of the region.”
The venue will also feature an outdoor bar and alfresco dining area.
“Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is already a popular location for weddings and events, and The Homestead offers couples and event organisers a unique, premium facility,” says Couch.
