Merivale’s buying spree continues with the purchase of the group’s first inner west asset.
Merivale will officially takeover the Queen Victoria Hotel in late April and will re-launch the venue in June. The venue will have a strong food focus, with the team behind Manly’s Papi Chulo, Christopher Hogarth and Patrick Friesen, in charge of the food offering.
Merivale CEO Justin Hemmes said,“The Queen Victoria Hotel is another fantastic addition to the Merivale group in what is undoubtedly our most exciting year yet. I am passionate about creating world-class venues designed specifically around the local community and look forward to becoming part of Sydney’s thriving Inner West”.
Merivale’s recent shopping list has included the Paddington Arms on Oxford Street, 50 King Street in Sydney’s CBD, re-opened as art-based pop-up Work in Progress in May, the Beach Palace Hote that is now the ultra-successful Coogee Pavilion and the Newport Arms Hotel on the north shore.
Merivale will also evolve its existing portfolio of venues in 2015. The beloved Surry Hills local, The Beresford Hotel, is set for fresh interiors and a stunning new menu by the talented Laif Etournaud who recently took over the reins as Head Chef. Further details will be announced soon.
