Pacha Sydney, presented by Heineken, has announced its new programme for 2015.
Over the coming months, Pacha will feature four shows by Creative Directors The Squared Division, exclusive residencies from MaRLo, Tigerlily and Timmy Trumpet, and sets by international headliners. The new shows will launch at Ivy on Saturday 24 January.
The Squared Division was established by Australian directors and choreographers Antony Ginandiar and Ashley Evans. The pair has over 17 years of international industry experience including work for clients Taylor Swift, Rita Ora, Ed Sheeran, Britney Spears and Ke$ha. Domestically, they have worked on The X Factor since 2011.
The new shows are ‘Private Parts’ – an avant-garde celebration of the female body, inspired by burlesque and Parisian cabaret; ‘Objektophilie’ – bringing to life the movement of surrealism through geometric costume designs and obscure silhouettes; and ‘Maison de Fous’ – a twisted and visually confronting tour through a haute couture madhouse.
The fourth show – ‘Kiss my Tigerlily’ – will feature DJ Tigerlily aka Dara Hayes. She said,“I’m thrilled to collaborate with The Squared Division on my new show. They have work with the biggest pop stars in the world and bring an amazing energy to the project. The idea of my own show has been in the works for a while and now it’s ready to come to life at Pacha Sydney. I’m going to be so excited on 21 February that I might cry”.
Tigerlily will be joined by MaRLo and Timmy Trumpet as Pacha’s three exclusive Sydney residents in 2015. In less than a decade, Timmy Trumpet has successfully transitioned from the international stage as an acclaimed jazz musician to the realm of global dance music. Now as a combined DJ/Instrumentalist, he is ranked one of the top five DJs in Australia and has just come off the back of an extensive US tour with Will Sparks and Joel Fletcher. MaRLo, the Dutch-born, Australian-raised trance superstar will perform four spectacular shows at Pacha Sydney throughout the year. His first headline spot is confirmed for Saturday 24 January, supported by Ben Morris, Nick Arbor and Archie.
Pacha Sydney Director Andrew El-Bayeh said, “Pacha Sydney really is a weekly entertainment experience unlike anything else in Australia. We have enjoyed an amazing two years in Sydney and are excited to have the amazingly talented Squared Division team on board to raise the bar even higher. This is something you’ll have to see to believe.”
