Marriott International has announced it will debut its Courtyard brand in Melbourne with the opening of Courtyard by Marriott West Melbourne in 2021.
The new-build property will be located at 50 Batman Street on the edge of the CBD and will feature 150 accommodation rooms and 250 square metres of flexible meeting space.
Richard Crawford, senior director of hotel development Australia, New Zealand and Pacific at Marriott International, says the company is excited to launch Courtyard in Melbourne together with Ousia Investments.
“Courtyard by Marriott is our largest brand by distribution with more than 1100 properties globally and it has been delivering outstanding results for the select service tier,” he says.
The hotel will also offer a signature restaurant with outdoor seating, a grab-and-go outlet and a range of amenities including a 24-hour gym and outdoor swimming pool.
Sean Hunt, area vice president Australia, New Zealand and Pacific at Marriott International, welcomed the new addition to the portfolio.
“Marriott International is growing quickly in Australia, where we currently operate 19 hotels and have a further 19 in the pipeline,” he says.
“Demand is on the rise for modern yet affordable accommodations that appeal to ambitious and enterprising guests, so we’re delighted we’ve found the right site to debut the Courtyard by Marriott brand in the Melbourne market.”
