Chef James Metcalfe is set to expand his JRM Hospitality portfolio with a brand new Italian eatery, Freddie Green’s.
Located on O’Riordan Street in Sydney’s Green Square, Freddie Green’s will offer a community hub, ideal for casual dining, meetings and events.
With doors set to open in September, the restaurant marks the third venue for JRM Hospitality in the last 12 months, following the launch of Saint George Dining and W&Co Coffee Shop & Catering.
It is also Metcalfe’s third joint venture in partnership with Veriu Hotels & Suites and +U Work Collective.
“Freddie Green’s will be a destination for big flavour Italian dishes made with great produce,” he said.
“We want to provide the Green Square community with a little taste of Italy in their own backyard.”
The menu
Following a research tour of Italy earlier this year, Metcalfe has designed a menu to reflect the communal dining style that is central to Italian cuisine.
Diners can expect Roman classics such as potato pizza and the popular chicken cotoletta (Italian schnitzel) on the menu, plus pasta and antipasto dishes.
In naming the restaurant, Metcalfe wanted to create a brand that was in line with his commitment to the local neighbourhood.
As a result the venue was named after Frederick Green, who was the Lord Mayor of Alexandria in the 1930s and 1940s and was instrumental to the development of the area, which resulted in Green Square being named in his honour.
Freddie Green’s will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week and will also offer room service to guests staying at Veriu Green Square.
