Known for its live seafood and late-night trading, celebrated Sydney restaurant Golden Century has unveiled a new 180-person dining and event space.
Located on what was previously a rooftop space, Golden Century Wine Bank offers a versatile venue for banquets, private dinners and meetings.
The space can be configured into up to eight private dining rooms or booked as an exclusive event space, plus lounge areas are also available for pre- or post-dining drinks.
Guests can select from the 1000-plus label wine list or peruse 600 more rare and vintage wines in the restaurant’s new ‘wine bank’ cellar. Guests will also have the option of cellaring or storing their own wines on site.
“At Golden Century Wine Bank we want to elevate Chinese food and have amazing fine wines to match,” said Eric Wong of the Golden Century Group.
“We’re excited to have a bottle of wine for every menu item and we chose the name Wine Bank because in Cantonese it sounds like ‘prestige collection’, and that is what we have on level three.”
The dining space has its own purpose-built kitchen, which can produce a la carte and banquet menus to suit any occasion.
The launch of Golden Century Wine Bank celebrates 30 years since Eric and Linda Wong arrived from Hong Kong and took over the business, seating just 100 people.
With the new venue, the entire restaurant can seat up to 650 people, while its sister venue The Century at The Star seats another 210 guests and offers seven private dining rooms.
