For the first time in over two decades a hotel has opened its doors in the centre of Sydney with room rates starting for under $100..
Accor’s Hotel Ibis Sydney King St Wharf is now open
The trip down memory lane comes with the opening of the new Ibis Sydney King St Wharf, which launches today with a special rate of just $99 per room per night.
The Ibis is the first new-build hotel to open in Sydney’s central business district this decade, and with its prime location between Wynyard and the bars and restaurants of King Street Wharf, the Ibis promises to be a huge success as corporate and leisure travellers increasingly seek better value accommodation in the midst of the global economic meltdown.
The hotel has been built on a site bordering Kent, Erskine and Sussex Streets, within easy walk of the city’s major business houses as well as tourist areas such as Darling Harbour, Cockle Bay and The Rocks.
The hotel’s 91 rooms all boast LCD televisions, Foxtel channels, modern en suite bathrooms, funky colour schemes, air conditioning and work desks. The hotel offers a range of room configurations for different needs including superior rooms, connecting rooms, special access rooms and even four king harbour rooms with water views (available at a premium).
In March 2009, a three-storey 1490 square metre complex will open underneath the hotel, featuring even more bars, cafes and restaurants for guests to choose from.
“With the world in financial turmoil, the Ibis King St Wharf actually opens at the perfect time, offering budget-conscious business and leisure travellers unbeatable rates in an unbeatable location,” said General Manager Benjamin Krieg.
