Auckland welcomes a new white water rafting facility.
Located adjacent to the Vodafone Events Centre, the Vector Wero Whitewater Park is a community-owned venue headed up by four-time gold medallist Ian Ferguson.
With a manmade lake filled with 20 million litres of swimming pool quality water, a 4.5 metre high waterfall and grade 4 rapids, the white water centre is ideal for incentive activities and teambuilding days.
Visitors can raft or kayak the rapids, and the white water can be turned off and activities can take place on ‘flat water’.
There are two areas; an advanced area and a smaller river that is a training area suitable for the youth development program.
A hotel will be built onsite next year with 140 guest rooms and 40 residential rooms. A brand and management company has yet to be named.
The grounds of the facility have been designed by one of the world’s best landscape architects, James Lord, with Maori folklore at its heart.
There is parking onsite and both the Vodafone Events Centre, the single largest single level venue in New Zealand, and the whitewater park can be taken out for sole use without any interruption from sporting calendars as the venue is community led, not sport-led.
Vector Wero Whitewater Park is located at 770 Great South Rd, Wiri, Auckland New Zealand.
