From December, The Old Rum Store on Kensington Street in Chippendale will become home to The Private Kitchen.
The re-imagined space will become a bespoke pop-up designed to showcase visiting international chefs to Sydney’s private dining and events market.
The first collaboration is with Stanley Wong, a chef who has worked in a number of applauded restaurants worldwide including Michelin-starred Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s Jean-Georges and Spice Market in New York and the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Hong Kong.
Chef Wong currently resides in Hong Kong where he has his own kitchen studio, Culinart, which operates as a restaurant for private bookings only, catering for intimate and exclusive dining experiences.
Located on the third floor of The Old Rum Store, The Private Kitchen offers an indoor space and a large wrap-around balcony. The modern design complements the raw, industrial elements remaining from the original building structure, providing a versatile environment to host anything from networking breakfasts and canapé functions, through to corporate entertaining and brand launches, for up to 120 people. Chef Wong has created a range of menus for seated and standing events, with matched beverage packages available.
Following his residency at The Private Kitchen, The Old Rum Store will become a permanent home for Chef Wong when he launches his first Australian restaurant, Eastside Grill , in a separate site in early 2017.
The Private Kitchen by Stanley Wong is open now for bookings, with the space available from early December through to late February 2017. The program of international chefs for 2017 will be released early next year.
The Private Kitchen is located at Level 3, The Old Rum Store, 10-12 Kensington Street, Chippendale NSW.
