Lygon Street in Carlton welcomes new Latin American venue Popol Nah aka the People’s House.
In keeping with the Latin American trend sweeping Australia, chef Cali Riviera will be serving up a menu with ceviche, empanadas and bocadillos (Argentine-style steak baguette and Cubano with braised pork) and slow-cooked meats with house-pickled vegetables. The dessert menu includes homemade alfajores – shortbread biscuits with dulce leche icecream.
Riviera has worked across the globe (London, Istanbul – Turkey, Oaxaca – Mexico, Madrid – Spain, as well as New York) and will bring this international polish to the Popol Nah kitchen.
The name Popol Nah comes from a landmark council house in Honduras and can be loosely translated as the ‘People’s House’. The concept was developed around the idea of people coming together to share food, drink and good times.
The 80 seat restaurant is located at 171 Lygon Street, Carlton and can be booked out exclusively for events.
