Sydney Festival hosted a Johnny Cash tribute show in the exercise yard of the old Parramatta Gaol on the weekend.
Tex Perkins, the lead singer of Australian rock band The Cruel Sea, embodied the spirit of Cash to recreate the famous 1968 Folsom Prison concerts. Perkins was joined by his festival band, The Tennessee Four, and Rachael Tidd, who took on the role of June Carter.
Built in the 19th century, this recently decommissioned gaol provided the perfect venue for this gig.
Parramatta Gaol is located at 125 O’Connell St, Parramatta NSW.
