Ippudo, Japan’s famous ramen brasserie, opened its second Australian venue on Tuesday night in Sydney’s Central Park with a VIP launch event.
Toshiyuki Kiyomiya, President and COO of Chikaranomoto Holdings, Ippudo’s parent company, made a short welcome speech and performed a traditional sake
barrel breaking ceremony (breaking the sake barrel and tasting it is to pray for the safety and health of all people involved in the project, as well as prosperous business in the future).
Once the formalities were over, guests enjoyed a buffet of seared salmon sushi, chashu croquette, nikumiso tofu salad and seasoned cucumber skewers, as well as Ippudo’s two famous dishes: Shiromaru Classic, the original white, pork-based broth ramen and Akamaru Modern, a bolder red broth seasoned with garlic oil and Ippudo’s special-blended miso paste (umami-dama).
The venue fits 48 people seated inside, 16 seated outside and is located in Central at Central Park, RB07 lower ground, 28 Broadway, Chippendale NSW.
