Last Friday, the Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria welcomed the newest addition to its already impressive array of local producers with the opening of Flying Brick Cider Co.
The latest project from David and Lyndsay Sharp of Leura Park Estate and Jack Rabbit Vineyard, Flying Brick Cider Co is a working cidery as well as a large, casual venue featuring a visitor information centre, provedore, bar and kitchen. The quirky name and brand came from the Yellow Tailed Black Cockatoo whose local nick name is ‘Flying Brick’. Known for their spunk, these birds are loved for their happy, playful and seemingly ‘naughty’ appearance and disposition. Local legend also has it that if a flock of black cockatoos flies overhead, you are blessed with good luck.
In addition to the three classic and highly awarded Flying Brick Cider offerings – Original, Pear and Draught – the onsite cidery will be crafting boutique seasonal batches from fresh, seasonal fruit. Patrons can also grab a ‘growler’ of cider to take home – a 1.89 litre growler bottles that patrons can purchase, take home and enjoy and then return for a discounted replacement growler of any on tap cider, including the latest boutique batch on the pour.
Flying Brick Cider Co is located at 1251 Bellarine Highway, Wallington Vic.
