Eastside Grill is set to open in The Old Rum Store on Kensington Street on Saturday 28 January.
The restaurant, owned by the Greencliff group, evokes the atmosphere of New York’s meatpacking district and delivers a menu with the distinctive flavour of the traditional Japanese Binchotan charcoal grill.
Headed up by executive chef Stanley Wong (Spice Market, New York, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, Hong Kong and, most recently, The Private Kitchen, Sydney), the Eastside Grill menu has American influences with the subtle usage of Japanese flavours throughout.
The space is dark, sexy and theatrical, featuring a leather panelled-bar with bronze back bar display, custom brass chandelier, a runway of herringbone flooring and an assortment of steel and leather chairs, marrying the existing raw structure of this 100 year old building with the classic elements of a New York grill.
There is also a striking mural by Belgian-born graffiti artist Caratoes alongside the bar.
Eastside Grill is located on Level 1, 2-10 Kensington Street, Chippendale NSW.
