The revitalised dining and events precinct near Darling Harbour has more to it than meets the eye.

Darling Quarter, located below the Commonwealth Bank offices that house 7000 employees, has a thriving dining scene, adjacent grass areas (village greens) that can be booked for private events, the Lend Lease Monkey Baa Theatre that has 300 seats and can be hired for private events, as well as a 600 berth car park that charges a mere $13 after hours and on weekends.

Darling Quarter Retail and Marketing manager Abigail Campion said that Lend Lease have worked hard on the ‘placemaking’ components of the area.

Campion said, “We have a kid’s film festival in January, we had a live light installation as part of the Vivid festival, we offer free dance classes during school holidays, live music on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays and we are participating in the entire Darling Harbour Month of Love in February 2015.”

Furthermore, Darling Quarter has partnered with Project Five (and the kid’s version – Project Five-and-a-half) to bring art to life in the precinct with large outdoor artworks, live painting and children’s art classes.

The precinct also has a huge playground with ping pong tables, a waterplay area, climbing equipment and public toilets all of which are suitable for adults and children.

Event planners can liaise with Darling Quarter to arrange private use of the spaces for family days, markets and festivals and the Darling Quarter team will assist with the liaison with the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority for anything that require the use of private and public space.
