Greek food is made to share at this authentic mezze bar in Northbridge.
After only a month, Brika has already cemented its place as a neighbourhood favourite. The mouth-watering dishes and friendly service make the restaurant-come-bar an easy place to return to, and the cool atmosphere doesn’t hurt a bit.
Expertly made classics will remind diners that the Greeks do communal eating like nobody else: think slow-cooked lamb shoulder, charcoal octopus, and dips served with warm pita bread. The difference at Brika is an honest commitment to quality – the taramasalata, for example, is made with locally sourced sea mullet roe. It’s this attention to detail that makes each dish shine.
The décor – like the food – embraces owner Simon Psaros’ Greek heritage, with Cyrillic street art sprawled across the otherwise bare walls. The large space encompasses an indoor area, a sectioned bar area and plenty of covered outdoor seating, and the restaurant takes bookings for groups of 6 or more.
Of course, the well-stocked bar features ouzo in generous quantities. If aniseed isn’t your thing, a selection of Greek wine varieties and beers sit alongside a cocktail list that emphasises fresh, citrusy flavours.
Brika is located at 3/177 Stirling Street, Perth.
