Located metres from Byron Bay’s Main Beach, Balcony and Oyster Co. is Sean Connolly and Fraser Short’s latest venture.
Headed up Connolly, the casual yet sophisticated menu consists of an array of fresh dishes created from locally sourced and sustainable produce.
Business partner Short said, “Oysters are having a moment as they’re delicious, unpretentious, and sustainable with their seemingly magical ability to filter the waters they grow in. There’s just nothing like sitting at the bar with a frosty beer or a glass of rose and slurping down a dozen – that’s the kind of experience we wanted to create at Balcony.”
In addition to seafood, the venue also offers Sean’s chicken lollipops of southern fried free-range chicken, chilli and molasses dip, his ‘Half Almost Famous Steak Tartare’, Northern grass fed eye fillet with peppercorn sauce and the ‘Orgy of Mushroom Gnocchi’.
Sleek and simplistic, the decor is reminiscent of a seaside beach house — with whitewashed surfaces, beaten wood and hallmark tin roofing. Tropical ferns and a giant wrap around verandah pick up the leisurely vibe of the region.
Balcony Bar and Oyster Co. is located on the corner of Lawson St and Johnson St, Byron Bay.
