Hilton has announced a new 600-room hotel for Melbourne, with more than 2800 square metres of event space.
When it opens in 2023, Hilton Melbourne Square will be part of a $2.8 billion mixed-use development in the centre of the Southbank precinct, conveniently located near Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The hotel will have a strong focus on meetings and events, with a range of venues including 1140-square-metre ballroom and an 840-square-metre junior ballroom.
Among the 600 accommodation rooms will be 28 suites and one Presidential Suite, plus an executive lounge will also be available.
Other facilities include four food and beverage outlets including a rooftop bar, a fitness centre and an indoor pool.
The hotel announcement follows the recent signing of Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street, which will offer 244 rooms in the heart of the city.
“Having recently signed Hilton Melbourne Little Queen Street, we are thrilled to have now signed another Hilton Hotels & Resorts property with Hilton Melbourne Square, this time a major meetings and events property,” said Heidi Kunkel, vice president, operations, Australasia, Hilton.
“Melbourne is an extremely important market and with two new Hilton Hotels & Resorts properties joining our existing DoubleTree by Hilton hotel on Flinders Street, we look forward to welcoming both business and leisure guests to all three unique properties.”
Construction of the hotel is set to begin in 2020, with completion expected for early 2023.
