Hilton Cairns is injecting more than $1 million into a major refurbishment of its events floor that will rate as one of the city’s most technologically advanced event spaces when completed in October.

Hilton Cairns general manager, David Kelly, said the refurbishment project was a bold move that he hoped would stimulate confidence in the region.

“Tropical North Queensland has a great deal to offer, as does the hotel, and we’re prepared to push forward in the years to come by investing in every opportunity,” he said.

Following completion of its three month upgrade program next month, the event space will comprise one of the largest grand ballrooms in Cairns, conference and meeting rooms, a business centre and pre-function networking areas.

The overall look would be chic with an understated and stylish décor of dark colours, metallic undertones and stainless steel fittings. The design will be forward thinking and minimalistic and incorporate state-of-the-art AV technology.

The space will utilise natural daylight, feature mounted, retractable projectors, flush mounted ceiling speakers, electric screens, full control show touch panels with remote capabilities, full black-out capabilities, ceiling rigging suitable for theatrical events and a Cat5 system enabling the deployment of digital technology with minimal visual impact on room design.
