Melbourne’s Waterfront City will soon become a world-class destination with the opening of the highly anticipated Southern Star Observation Wheel.

The $40 million giant Ferris Wheel, much like the famous London Eye, will stand 100 metres in diameter and showcase views as far away as Geelong. It is scheduled to open at the end of the year.

The wheel will offer event planners a unique option for functions with 12 metre-high orbiting cabins that can be privately hired for up to 20 guests, as well as other function spaces, including Star Room and the outdoor Star Piazza available. Click here for more information or bookings.

And in breaking news, the venue has contracted Peter Rowland Catering to provide food and beverages for events. It will be the ninth venue in the caterer’s portfolio, which includes Flemington — The Event Centre, Melbourne Museum and the NGV International, among other notable venues.
