GCCEC celebrates 20th anniversary

The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC) has celebrated its 20th anniversary of operation in southeast Queensland.

The $167 million facility opened as Australia’s largest regional convention centre in 2004, before expanding in 2009 to include additional multifunction halls and meeting rooms.

On 29 June, 2024, GCCEC celebrated two decades of excellence across its 10,000 square metres of space.

“The centre has been a major economic driver to the region, supporting local business and employment, and attracting leaders of industry, sport and entertainment to our city,” says GCCEC’s acting general manager, Nick Jeffrey.

“In fact, last month [June 2024] the International Communications Association Conference attracted more than $8 million in economic benefit.”

In its 20 years of hosting events, GCCEC has been home to rodeos, the Commonwealth Games, gala events and world-leading conferences and exhibitions.

Located in Broadbeach, 500 metres from the beach, GCCEC features its main arena, plus four exhibition halls and meeting rooms catering for up to 6000 people.

The venue hosts more than 150 events annually.
