Victoria’s largest alpine resort, Falls Creek, has announced the appointment of an award-winning hospitality operator to lead a multi-million dollar redevelopment of the resort’s most popular dining venues.
Experienced hospitality operator, Traverse Alpine Group – the successful business behind the award-winning Astra Lodge and the thriving Huski Kitchen & Wine Bar in Falls Creek – has now also taken over the management and renewal of the resort’s Cloud 9 and Frying Pan Inn venues.
The appointment was made by Falls Creek Ski Lifts, owned by global attraction and entertainment company, Merlin Entertainments Group.
General manager of Falls Creek Ski Lifts, Sharon Raguse, says, “We are delighted to extend our relationship with one of Australia’s most successful and experienced hospitality operators. Traverse Alpine Group will take Falls Creek’s luxury food and beverage offering to the next level and create an exciting deluxe destination for our skiing locals and guests.”
Owner of Traverse Alpine Group, Rosy Seaton, has extensive international knowledge of alpine hospitality and will apply her enthusiasm to this latest project with the assistance of a team of experts in design, architecture, building and hospitality management.
“Our vision is to raise the profile of Falls Creek as Australia’s premier all year-round alpine destination, provide memorable experiences for local and international visitors in fabulously refurbished venues and enrich and support the Falls Creek community,” said Seaton.
Located near the top of the resort, Cloud9 will be reimagined to create a world-class bistro experience that will seat up to 400 people, combined with a sophisticated mountain-side bar and a new-build Mezzanine. All zones will serve high- end custom food and drinks menus, perfect for a quick bite in between runs or après ski.
The Frying Pan Inn, situated in the historic Village Bowl precinct, is an iconic hospitality hot spot. The remodelling will see the 200-seat venue reveal a new BBQ bar and grill eatery with a rustic-industrial look.
Cloud9 and Frying Pan Inn will both plate up fresh and innovative menus, inspired by local produce and based on sustainable food preparation and farming practices. The menus are being curated under the expert guidance of food and beverage manager, Bruno Da Motta, who has more than 17 years’ local and international experience as a chef and restaurateur.
This commitment to sustainability is also being reflected in the design of the refurbished venues which will showcase the latest advances in waste reduction, recycling and energy efficiency with solar and wind energy to be harvested to power the buildings.
Interim refurbishment of Cloud9 and Frying Pan Inn has taken place and both venues will be fully operational by the 2018 ski season launch.
