The launch of Rydges Resort Hunter Valley is ushering in a new chapter for tourism in the Hunter Valley region, with new manager EVT planning to establish the property as one of NSW’s premier destination resorts.
In alignment with Rydges’ local approach, EVT plans to invigorate the already well-established resort with a blend of hospitality, entertainment, and events, further elevating the Hunter Valley’s reputation as the most dynamic wine tourism region in NSW.
Schwartz Family Company director and hotel owner Dr. Jerry Schwartz welcomed the arrival of Rydges to the resort, saying that EVT would utilise its events and entertainment expertise to further build the resort’s attraction for leisure and conference guests.
“The Hunter Valley has the potential to become one of Australia’s top tourism destinations, and we believe that EVT and Rydges can capitalise on its current popularity and take it to new heights,” Schwartz said.
“The resort plays a crucial role in transitioning the Hunter Valley away from its mining past and toward a new era centred around tourism. With numerous attractions and activities available both within the hotel and the surrounding region, it caters to couples, families, groups, conferences, and incentives.
“Our objective is to establish Rydges Resort Hunter Valley as the ultimate destination resort in New South Wales. It will encapsulate the essence of the region and its remarkable attractions.”
EVT director of hotels and resorts, Norman Arundel, emphasised the synergy between Dr. Schwartz’s passion for the Hunter Valley region and EVT’s operational expertise.
“As the fifth SFC property under EVT’s management, the synergy between Dr Schwartz’s passion for the Hunter Valley region and our operational expertise, will deliver a truly unique guest experience. The property is a sprawling playground in the heart of wine country and a destination in its own right, with something for everyone,” Arundel said.
Over the next twelve months, the resort plans to implement a wide range of new initiatives such as a new fully electric passenger train to transport guests around the expansive resort, a ‘Hunter Valley Art, Wine and Food Hop’ tour, three new self-guided walking trails, new equestrian facilities, and the addition of glamping facilities and cabin accommodation for groups.
