DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart opens for business

Hobart has welcomed Tasmania’s first DoubleTree by Hilton, with the newly built, 206-room hotel opening in the city.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart, at 179 Macquarie Street, offers views of Mount Wellington and the Derwent River waterfront, and it marks the first Hilton hotel in Tasmania.

The property encompasses seven room categories, offering up to 33 square metres of floor space in its 80 deluxe rooms, which feature floor-to-ceiling windows.

DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart also boasts two meeting spaces, Leatherwood Restaurant, a heated indoor pool, sauna and gym.

“DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart will bring a uniquely Tasmanian flavour to the long-standing international hotel brand through our team of locals, sweeping views of Hobart’s unique cityscape, and Tasmanian food and beverage,” says Paul Hutton, Hilton’s area vice president and head of Australasia.

“DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart brings together a genuine connection to this beautiful part of the world with Hilton’s internationally renowned service and facilities.”

Owned by Fragrance Group and constructed by Hobart’s Hutchinson’s Builders, DoubleTree by Hilton Hobart is the latest addition to Hilton’s portfolio of 24 hotel brands in more than 8000 locations worldwide.

“We know Tasmania has what the world wants, and it is testament to our exceptional destination offering that a brand as reputable as Hilton has launched here in Hobart,” says Tasmanian Premier Jeremy Rockliff.

“Adding more than 200 premium hotel rooms to the state’s landscape will support our tourism and hospitality sectors, and help keep our economy strong.”
