Following the recent completion of Cordis, Auckland’s multi-million dollar renovation, the Langham Hospitality Group property has announced major plans to develop a new luxury tower that will take the property’s total number of rooms from t0 650.
Scheduled to be completed by 2020, the new interconnecting tower will consist of 250 premium rooms and signature Cordis suites, a new 400sqm event space, and a Club Lounge with panoramic city views, taking in both the harbour and Auckland Tower.
The development will also see the hotel’s existing Eight restaurant receive an additional 60 covers, while a new destination bar with a courtyard and outdoor seating will also be introduced.
Simon Manning, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer of Langham Hospitality Group, said: “The successful repositioning of Cordis, Auckland combined with the economic growth and positive tourism outlook in New Zealand makes us confident that this is the right time for the owner of the hotel to commit its financial resources for the expansion of the hotel.
“On a broader outlook, with New Zealand’s International Convention Centre scheduled to open in 2020, Cordis, Auckland’s enhanced facilities and increased inventory will be in a strong position to support the country’s development of the robust conventions and events sector.”
Following the opening of Cordis, Auckland last November, the hotel underwent a complete refurbishment of its 411 rooms and suites, as well as introducing a new Lobby Lounge and Club Floor. The hotel was previously as The Langham Hotel.
