It might seem like an oxymoron but The Italian in Melbourne is now offering gluten-free and vegan options for functions and private dining.

Head chef Anthony Grafton said, “With more people eating a gluten-free diet, we have a fairly high demand for vegan- vegetarian and vegan- gluten free menu items. It was easy for us to create a menu based around their needs as we make the pasta on premises and can ensure that we have gluten-free available if we know.”

The Italian owner Roberto Scheriani said, “Our food and beverage team are committed providing a high quality menu for our gluten-free and vegan customers. While our traditional dining menu offers a variety of both vegan and gluten-free items for guests, it was important to offer the same three-course dining experience for those attending private dining functions here at The Italian.”

A gluten-free/vegan canapé option is also available for functions booked within the restaurant venue.

The Italian has been listed in The Age Good Food Guide for five consecutive years since 2009 and is located at 101 Collins St in Melbourne CBD.

The venue fits 400 people seated and has a heated courtyard for outdoor drinks and canapés service.
