Brisbane Showgrounds has revealed details of its newest event space, Alexandria Park, which is on track to host events from October 2019.
The area will comprise two acres of indoor and outdoor space, including an existing 1300-square-metre undercover events pavilion known as Building 8.
The heritage-listed pavilion is currently undergoing an extensive refurbishment and will become the focal point of Alexandria Park.
The new park is part of the $2.9 billion Brisbane Showgrounds Regeneration Project, which will provide event planners with world-class facilities.
Brisbane Showgrounds general manager of venue sales and marketing Jago Coyle said Alexandria Park will be suitable for a range of events including cocktail parties, banquets and festivals.
“The park has facilities for a remote kitchen, so it’s a versatile event space that can cater for up to 5000 people,” he said.
“Alexandria Park is expected to be finished by mid-2019, first being used to house the canine competition at Queensland’s largest event – the Ekka – in August.
“We’re currently taking bookings for other events to hire the space from October.”
With this new addition, Brisbane Showgrounds will now offer 24 event spaces, including the Royal International Convention Centre.
