Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre (BCEC) is the only Australian venue shortlisted in the prestigious international Convention & Incentive Travel (C&IT) Awards for the title of Worldwide Convention Centre Team of the Year.
The Awards are organised and given annually by leading London based Conference & Incentive Travel to celebrate the very best of international conferences, meetings and incentive events.
The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony on September 27th at London’s Natural History Museum when the Centre will be up against two of the world’s leading convention centres in the Worldwide Convention Centre Team category – ExCel London and SECC Glasgow.
The Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre is the only Australian venue shortlisted for the award.
BCEC general manager Bob O’Keeffe said to even be a contender in such a highly sought after international award was an honour and recognition of the Centre’s team for its experience, expertise and professionalism.
BCEC, operated by leading international venue management group, AEG Ogden, is Australia’s most awarded convention centre and has been voted among the world’s top three convention centres on three separate occasions in the AIPC APEX Awards.
The Centre was recently announced as the official venue for the G20 Leaders Summit in Brisbane in 2014 when it will host the leaders of the United States, Great Britain, Russia, China and other nations, with the Centre’s world class facilities named as a contributing factor in the destination selection.
2012 is a highlight year for BCEC following the successful opening of its $140 million expansion, BCEC on Grey Street – Australia’s first dedicated boutique convention venue which has created excitement in the national and international association market and revolutionised the small meetings industry in Australia.
