With the refurbishment of Adina Apartment Hotel Sydney Town Hall underway, furniture and fixtures from the rooms have been donated to rescue charity ReLove to help Aussies in need this winter.
The property is also donating ironing boards, glasses, artwork, mirrors and kitchen appliances which will be used by the charity to re-home them to Sydneysiders who need them most.
TFE Hotels Group COO, Chris Sedgwick, says the decision to donate preloved furniture to charities was the right thing to do from a corporate social responsibility perspective.
“With the introduction of TFE Hotels’ Global People, Social Conscience ESG charter last year, we encourage our owners and our hotel teams to make a difference in the lives of the communities in which we operate,” he says.
“As a group, we are making a commitment to sustainable practices, so we’re thrilled to see these items go to good homes and not into landfill.”
ReLove Co-founder, Ren Fernando, says the charity primarily supports women and children impacted by domestic violence and people experiencing homelessness, asylum seekers or people coming out of incarceration.
“Donations like these directly contribute to supporting individuals in crisis by furnishing them with safe and welcoming homes,” she says.
“[This initiative] not only embodies sustainability but also underscores our shared dedication to making a positive impact in the community.”
Adina Town Hall closed its doors for major refurbishment works last month and is due to reopen in December 2024.
