Darlinghurst’s A Tavola now has a surfie sister with A Tavola Bondi opening in the new Adina Complex on Hall Street. Along with a number of other high-profile tenants, the new A Tavola is part of an exciting rejuvenation of Bondi’s dining scene and marks a significant milestone for chef and owner, Eugenio Maiale.
A Tavola Bondi is headed by Chef Luke Randall who has been with the restaurant since 2009 and will now implement A Tavola’s philosophy of simple and humble Italian food in the Bondi restaurant.
In keeping with A Tavola’s namesake, literally meaning ‘to the table’, A Tavola Bondi includes the trademark communal 10-metre marble table at the heart of the restaurant.
Bondi also features the same rustic and honest classic dishes that Darlinghurst has become known for. Chef Eugenio’s food is best described as predominantly ‘abruzzese’ (home to Eugenio’s family, north-east of Rome), made the way his mother taught him.
Guests can expect to experience A Tavola’s signature flair with dried and fresh pasta, which is prepared daily with love and attention to detail on the long marble table. Reflecting its seaside location, Bondi also offers an added emphasis on beautiful seafood. The kitchen team will be incorporating diverse varieties of seafood into pasta dishes, mains and their Italian take on casual bar food.
