The flavours and colours of Singapore were on full display in Melbourne and Sydney recently, for Singapore Tourism Board’s annual MICE Roadshow.
Created and produced by Spice Magazine, the exclusive networking evenings provided a select group of event planners the opportunity to explore Singapore’s leading venues and suppliers, all while enjoying delicious Singapore bites and cocktails.
Kicking off in Sydney, the first roadshow event was hosted at Beta Bar, which offered a sophisticated space for meeting and networking, hidden above popular Greek restaurant Alpha.
While Beta Bar’s event menus traditionally focus on Greek cuisine, the team created a one-off Singapore-inspired menu especially for the event. Guests enjoyed house-made dumplings, satay chicken skewers and samosas, plus an array of stir-fries and curries.
With a Singapore Sling in hand, guests roamed the space meeting with exhibitors and learning all about Singapore’s MICE offering.
Stunning floral styling was provided by The Wilds, while Social Playground were onsite with their green screen photo booth experience and Musicland offered guests a custom paint-by-numbers activity to get the creative juices flowing.
The next stop on the Singapore Tourism Board MICE roadshow was Melbourne, where Alto Event Space put on another spectacular Singapore-inspired event.
Guests enjoyed a live Peking duck station and an array of Singapore-style canapes, while enjoying custom cocktails.
Social Playground and Musicland were on hand to bring the entertainment with their custom-made activations, while Melbourne Event Florist styled the space with bright florals.
A range of prizes were up for grabs at both events, with many exhibitors generously giving away experiences and accommodation in Singapore for some lucky winners.
Roadshow hailed a success
The roadshow exhibitors were extremely pleased with the events and the quality of buyers in attendance.
Exhibitor Louise Barker, regional director of Sales Australia & New Zealand for Far East Hospitality Management, said both events were a great success.
“I definitely made new connections and have some new leads, I could not ask for more,” she said.
Pat Monneron, country manager for Meritus Hotels & Resorts, agreed, saying the 2019 roadshows were “one of the best I have been involved in”.
“The event itself provided for suppliers to spend as much time as needed with each buyer, allowing for much deeper conversations, instead of the tired, time-limited meetings,” said Monneron.
“The location and mix of presenters as well as the great prizes arranged by STB ensured all buyers and sellers enjoyed the event, and ultimately drive more MICE business to Singapore from Australia.”
