Select Audio Visual recently delivered an awards night with a difference, whisking guests away to a secret location for the Pedders Suspension Awards evening.
The event was delivered as part of a week-long conference and welcomed more than 200 guests to the Archerfield Jet Base in Queensland on 14 February 2019.
THE BRIEF
Select Audio Visual was engaged to provide audio visual production and a captivating room design for the 2019 Pedders Suspension Awards Evening.
The brief was to transform the unique function space, which is essentially a shed, into a room design that reflects the company’s brand and industrial nature of the business, whilst celebrating individual award winners at this secret outer-Brisbane location.
THE SOLUTION
Guests were transported by luxury coaches from their CBD hotel to this secret location, approximately 20 minutes from the city.
Donned in black-tie attire, guests were ushered upon arrival by air-traffic controllers to the hangar roller door which was firmly shut for maximum impact and element of surprise.
Upon entry to the hangar, Select Audio Visual created a breath-taking room reveal for guests to enjoy.
As the hangar doors literally cranked open, guests were surprised and delighted as they meandered down a long red carpet which lead them between four lear-jets, neatly parked in a herringbone formation.
With the lear-jets being the focal point upon entry, smoke hazers and a flood of moving lights enhanced the depth and size of this unique function space, inviting guests through to the main dinner area, setting the tone for a fun and celebratory evening.
Following pre-dinner drinks, guests were invited to their seats and unaware of the special entrance that was soon to be revealed.
The distinctive whistle of a lear-jet taxiing down the runway towards the hangar had guests on their feet with cameras in hand. Smoke hazers created extra special-effects and excitement as the jet parked whilst the emcee made a memorable VIP entrance.
Two 12-foot projection screens flanked the main presentation stage and provided optimum viewing for guests. Steel industrial truss was suspended from the ceiling in two parallel lines with a combination of colour-changing intelligent moving lights and the latest, cutting-edge full-HD 12K laser projectors ensuring pin-sharp content to screen.
With branded Pedders gobo projecting onto the concrete flooring, the company’s red colours happened to be quite apt considering it was Valentine’s Day.
Intelligent lighting was designed and programmed to precision to complement the unique hangar architecture including the steel raked ceiling and, in particular, the live magic act that needed spiralling gobos to create the essential element of mystery for some of the favourite illusions!
Concert quality audio ensured the guests were able to clearly hear each awards presentation and aptly themed background music was on-point as celebrations continued into the evening.
THE OUTCOME
Project manager Justin Leaman and his specialist team worked closely with the client to ensure a seamless event experience from the guests’ surprise entry, the emcee’s jet-taxi arrival, live performances and awards announcements.
Pedders conference and training specialist Lorraine Ray said she was thrilled with the AV production on the night.
“It looked perfect and had the real wow factor I was hoping for,” she said.
“I have worked in the events industry for 20 years now and can honestly say that Select Audio Visual have been the best to work with to date. I just loved how easy [they] were to deal with, and [their] valuable input made our awards dinner a hit with guests.”
