Merlin Events recently hosted a group of 40 event planners on a progressive journey to experience some of Sydney’s most iconic attractions.

Hosted by the Merlin Events team, the event showcased WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo, Madame Tussauds Sydney and SEA LIFE Sydney Aquarium, all in the heart of Darling Harbour.

Here, the team shares some of the highlights from the event:

What was the event all about?

This event was hosted by Merlin Events as a famil, allowing us to showcase three of our Sydney venues to some VIP clients.

As they are unique venues, it is really important for us to be able to show guests the transformation from family attraction to glamourous event venue.

We partnered with Shorty’s Liquor on the alcohol experiences and then worked with our executive chef to create delicious food pairings for each stage of the event. All the elements were then pulled together and delivered in-house by the Merlin Events team.

What were the event highlights?

Starting at WILD LIFE Sydney with a VIP tour, delegates were introduced to some of Australia’s most iconic animals and even have the chance to meet our adorable Kangaroo Joeys.

The tour ended on the Koala Rooftop, where guests enjoyed an Australian wine tasting hosted by sommelier Ben Moechtar as the sun set.

The party then continued in Madame Tussauds Sydney, where guests enjoyed canapes and were surprised by a Moet Champagne tower, all whilst rubbing shoulders and snapping selfies with our favourite celebrities.

Finally guests were invited to SEA LIFE Sydney, where they were met with cocktails served in our new Day & Night on the Reef Zone.

This was followed by a delicious two-course meal with paired wine suggestions against the backdrop of the aquarium’s largest ocean tank vista with floor-to-ceiling viewing.

What was the feedback from guests?

Our clients loved this event. Guests were particularly surprised by the transformation of WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo for the wine tasting, and loved sitting amongst the koalas as they were taken through three Australian wines.

Most guests weren’t aware that the three Sydney venues were able to be linked to deliver a progressive event of this nature, and loved the journey from each one to the next.

Finishing at SEA LIFE was noted by many as a great finale to the event, allowing guests to really sit, relax and enjoy the view into the final oceanarium.
