Business events destinations, suppliers and venues from around the world will gather in Las Vegas next month, when IMEX America returns for its 2019 show.
The exhibition will take place on 10-12 September at Sands Expo and Convention Center, with some 4000 qualified buyers set to attend.
More than 3500 suppliers from 150 countries will be exhibiting this year, and many are taking the show’s theme of ‘imagination’ to new heights.
Live tattooing returns to IMEX America
After a successful run at IMEX Frankfurt earlier this year, Tourism New Zealand will again be offering live Maori tattoos (tā moko) on its stand.
During the show in May, 10 international delegates received a tā moko at the 100% Pure New Zealand stand by respected artist Arekatera ‘Katz’ Maihi.
At the time, Tourism New Zealand global manager of business events Anna Fennes said the activation attracted attention on the show floor and “proved a great way to engage and connect with our Māori culture”.
Laughter is the best medicine
Another immersive activity sure to bring a smile to attendees’ faces will be laughter yoga at the new Laughter Lab.
Part of the Inspiration Hub, sponsored by Maritz Global Events, the Laughter Lab hosts several sessions on the power of laughter by Sarah Routman from Laugh for the Health of It.
Health and wellbeing will be a focus throughout IMEX America, with lots of opportunities for delegates to get active or relax during the busy days.
Delegate can kick-start their day at the IMEXrun or take part in daily mind, body and soul movement classes with live music. Alternatively, attendees can learn how to weave wellbeing into their own events by following the dedicated health and wellbeing education track or trying out new ‘Nook Pods’ which offer a quiet to recharge.
Explore high-stakes decision-making
Smart Monday is back in 2019, offering a day of education sessions on 9 September. One of the highly anticipated sessions, presented by InsideRisk, will ask the question: what kind of leader are you under maximum pressure?
Based on the true story of Swiss executive J.P. Mottu, who in 1988 found himself in charge of saving a young engineer kidnapped by Colombian rebels, the program thrusts participants into real-life negotiations that have been kept secret for over 25 years.
New to the show and Smart Monday this year is the She Means Business conference. With TED Talk-style sessions and panel discussions, the event is for both men and women in the industry looking to learn about and tackle crucial issues facing women in business events.
