Practical learnings at PCOA Conference workshops

Two educational workshops at the PCOA Conference 2024 are set to deliver events industry professionals with strategies to grow their businesses.

The workshops, “Valuing Your Event Business” and “Strategic Leadership – Ensuring Your Legacy”, are designed to help business owners, senior leaders and aspiring professional conference organisers grow, value and secure their events enterprises.

They will offer actionable strategies for expanding, selling and planning the future of events businesses.

Dan Londero, co-founder of Turnkey Event Solutions, will lead the “Valuing Your Event Business” workshop, in which attendees will learn practical methods to assess their business’s worth and discover strategies to maximise value when buying or selling.

Suzy Munt (pictured, above), partner at BDO, will guide the “Strategic Leadership – Ensuring Your Legacy” workshop, which will focus on succession planning and growth strategies.

“The PCOA Conference 2024 is designed to equip event professionals with practical skills and insights that will make a real impact,” says PCOA president Barry Neame.

“From gaining more engagement beyond the conference room to writing successful government tenders, and managing up to the program and social committees or your own board, this year’s program is focused on delivering real, actionable insights.

“Whether it’s winning more sponsorship for your clients, embracing diversity in the workplace or at conferences, understanding AV, or negotiating effectively with hotels, we are committed to equipping our members and attendees with the tools they need to thrive in a rapidly evolving industry.”

The PCOA Conference will be held at The Star Brisbane from 1-3 December, 2024.

“Having observed the resilience and ingenuity of PCOs during the past 20 years, I’ve seen how they survive and thrive in this dynamic industry,” says PCOA Conference program committee manager Jakki Govan.

“When it came to managing the program committee for this year’s conference, I asked myself, ‘If I was starting out or advancing as a PCO, what would I need to know to succeed?’

“That’s how we crafted the streams – balancing insightful sessions for those at the beginning of their careers with advanced, specialised sessions for seasoned professionals ready to take their expertise to the next level.”
