Multiple meeting spaces and conference rooms will form part of a new events hub in Melbourne’s east.
Located in Nunawading, about 25km from Melbourne’s CBD, The Round is set to open in October 2023.
As well as being designed as an arts and culture hub, the venue has versatile function and meeting spaces, a 600+ seat theatre, 200-seat studio theatre and a large bar area.
Whitehorse City Council Mayor, Mark Lane, said The Round is a world-class venue which he hopes will become the cultural heart of Melbourne’s East.
“The Round has been designed to broaden the opportunities for our community to connect with the arts, as well as with one another, and be enjoyed for generations to come,” he said.
The Round’s large theatre will be fitted with world-class sound and lighting technology and extensive back-of-house facilities including dressing room space, fully accessible bathrooms and office space.
The studio theatre offers retractable seating and is reconfigurable for event screening, presentations and other productions.
Outside in an expansive parkland setting the venue will house a purpose-built stage for outdoor events.
In terms of accessibility, The Round is close to Nunawading Railway Station and has free guest parking for drivers.
